Carnival is one of the largest festivals in the world! It is celebrated in tons of countries but Brazil has some of the most well-known and extravagant customs when it comes to carnival. There are parades and parties throughout the country but the face of Brazilian carnival is in Rio De Janiero. Colorful, intricate costumes and floats are created for carnival, live bands are playing in the streets, dancers are performing entertaining routines, and there are lights everywhere. The city comes alive in every way possible. Carnival spans five days before the start of Lent which is a Christian tradition to symbolize the 40 days Jesus Christ spent in the desert. Carnival has so much joy and excitement to it and brings millions of people together to celebrate love, life, and culture.
